Alien Invasyndrome Steam Refund Policy for the Demo
Eligibility, timelines, and how to file a refund without surprises
The short version
Alien Invasyndrome’s Steam Demo (app 4830300) is free to install. Steam’s standard refund policy applies to the TBA full game (app 4603980) once it ships; Steam does not refund free Demo downloads because there is no charge to refund. The Demo is the legal try-before-wishlist path: install it, decide whether the larva stealth loop clicks, and wishlist the full game if it does.
This page is not legal advice. Steam’s refund terms are set by Valve and may change. Always confirm the current policy on Steam’s refund help page before filing.

Steam’s general refund policy
Steam’s standard refund eligibility rules (as of the August 2026 wiki re-check):
- Refunds within 14 days of purchase if the playtime is less than 2 hours.
- The 2-hour / 14-day window is per purchase and resets per refund.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method, with Steam Wallet refund as a fallback in some regions.
- Refunds are not available for content that violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement (for example, content bought via fraudulent chargebacks).
These rules apply to purchases. A free Demo download is not a purchase, so the refund window does not apply to it. You can uninstall the Demo at any time with no financial action needed.
Demo (free) and refund
The Demo costs nothing. There is nothing to refund. If you want to remove the Demo from your library:
- Right-click the Demo in your Steam library.
- Choose Manage → Uninstall.
- The Demo is removed; no refund window applies because there was no charge.
Your Demo playtime, achievements, and saves are removed when you uninstall. Cloud-synced Demo saves may persist in Steam Cloud under the publisher’s settings — confirm before assuming a save survives an uninstall.
TBA full game and refund
The TBA full game (app 4603980) is not yet purchasable. When it ships:
- The standard Steam refund policy will apply to the full game purchase.
- The 14-day / 2-hour window starts at purchase time.
- Eligibility is per-purchase, not per-account.
- Refunds are at Valve’s discretion when the policy is in a grey area (for example, refunds past the 14-day window with significant playtime are reviewed case by case).
If the Demo tells you the loop is not for you, do not buy the full game. Wishlist it and skip the purchase entirely. That is the cheapest way to avoid refund friction.
When to file a refund
For the TBA full game, the honest answer is: file a refund within the 14-day / 2-hour window if the Demo convinced you to pre-purchase and the full game does not deliver the experience the Demo promised. The Demo is the canonical preview, so a strong mismatch between Demo and full game is a legitimate refund signal.
For the Demo, no refund is needed. Uninstall and move on.
How to file a refund
The mechanics are the same as any other Steam purchase:
- Go to Steam Support → Recent Purchases.
- Pick the Alien Invasyndrome full game purchase (when it ships).
- Choose the reason for refund (description, accidental purchase, technical issue, etc.).
- Submit. Steam will review and reply via email.
Refunds are usually processed within a week. The refund appears on your original payment method, or in your Steam Wallet for some regional cases.
What is not refundable
- Demo downloads (free; nothing to refund).
- In-game purchases if the TBA full game ships any. Steam’s refund policy treats in-game purchases as a separate category; confirm on Steam’s help pages when the full game ships.
- Gifts if Steam’s gift refund rules differ from purchase refunds. The Demo cannot be gifted as it is free; the full game’s gift eligibility will be set by the publisher at submission.
- Content purchased through a third-party key reseller outside Steam. Those keys are subject to the reseller’s own refund policy, not Steam’s.
Family Sharing and refund
The full-game store payload lists Family Sharing. Refunds for a shared game follow the purchaser’s account, not the borrower. If you are borrowing the full game via Family Sharing and want to refund, you need the original purchaser’s account to file the refund request.
This is a Steam policy detail; the wiki does not opine on it.
Adult content and refund
Adult-only content is not a special refund category. If you accidentally purchased the TBA full game and want a refund because of the adult content descriptors, you have the same 14-day / 2-hour window as any other purchase. Outside that window, refunds are at Valve’s discretion and not guaranteed for “I didn’t realize it was 18+.” Confirm the adult content descriptors before purchasing — see Age Rating & Content Descriptors for the descriptor list.
Region restrictions and refund
If you are in a restricted region (CN / DE / SA) and somehow purchased the full game before the regional block was applied to your account, refund eligibility follows Steam’s standard window. Do not assume a region block automatically entitles you to a refund; that is not how Steam’s policy works. See Region Restrictions for the disambiguation checklist.
Common refund questions
- “I bought the full game, played 5 hours, and want a refund.” Outside the 14-day / 2-hour window, Steam reviews case by case. “I changed my mind” after 5 hours is unlikely to be approved.
- “The Demo crashed constantly.” File a refund within the 14-day / 2-hour window if applicable; also file a developer bug report with your build string. See Bugs & Known Issues.
- “The TBA full game shipped with different content than the Demo.” That is a legitimate refund signal within the window. Outside the window, it is grey.
- “I live in a restricted region.” Refund eligibility follows Steam’s standard rules. Region block is not an automatic refund trigger.
What this page will not do
- Promise a refund outcome. Steam reviews case by case.
- Link APK mirrors as “free Demo alternatives.” Free Demo is already on Steam.
- Predict the TBA full game’s refund policy beyond Steam’s general rules.
- Provide legal advice. Steam’s refund help page is the canonical source.

Bottom line
The Demo is free — there is nothing to refund. The TBA full game will be subject to Steam’s standard 14-day / 2-hour refund window when it ships. The Demo is the honest try-before-wishlist path; if the loop does not click for you, wishlist the full game and wait for the eventual release without buying. If you must refund within the window, file via Steam Support and include the build string and the mismatch reason if applicable.
