How to Capture Guide

Content note

Alien Invasyndrome (Steam app 4603980) is an adult stealth-action Demo by Mozu Field / 百舌鳥, published by Shady Corner Games. Capture / reproduce commits are part of the larva progression fantasy. This page explains timing and risk only. Brief 18+ notice: mature themes exist; the wiki stays mechanical and non-graphic.

Full release is TBA. Demo builds reached a Demo 1.0 hotfix (May 2026) checkpoint — verify labels on Changelog if a prompt disagrees with this page.

Capture in one sentence

Capture is a committed interaction window that converts a quiet stealth gap into progression. It is not a substitute for nesting, and it is not a reason to ignore the ~1 minute detection hide. If the window is noisy, abort.

Pair this page with How to Nest, Stealth and Detection, and How to Play. Cover literacy: Vents and Cover.

Preconditions (run every time)

  1. Quiet state confirmed — no crew facing your tile or the approach lane for the full commit.
  2. Cover assigned — desk softlock or equivalent within one short dash (Softlock Fixes if exit sticks).
  3. Detection penalty clear — do not start a capture during the ~1 minute hide window. Use Detection Timer while learning.
  4. Nest not starving — bank nest progress so a failed capture does not strand your power curve (Nest Checklist).
  5. Abort rule ready — cancel early if a head turns; do not “almost finish” into a face check.
  6. UI readable — fix Locale Emulator before guessing prompts.

If any check fails, walk away. Capture prompts are not safety certificates.

Capture vs nest vs skills

  • Nest banks colony progress between commits — How to Nest.
  • Capture is a higher-attention commit that still sits on top of stealth rules.
  • INT usually protects quiet windows and utility options depending on live skill labels.
  • STR helps when a route later forces pressure; it does not erase detection tax.

Early Demo players who chase capture before nest literacy create retry spirals. Prove Kitchen softlocks first (Kitchen Route), then add capture when your hide exit is automatic. Skill order: Early Build, Skill Tree, Skill Planner.

Room notes for capture commits

Kitchen

Short loops teach abort discipline. Prefer counter-adjacent cover. Open island crossings during a capture commit are ego plays. Route companion: Kitchen Route.

Clinic

Furniture helps, but first-meeting Doctor pacing can steal attention. Pre-select the desk before the interact. Threat profile: Doctor. Ordered pacing: Clinic Doctor Route.

Laboratory

Long sightlines punish greed. Start only when the far door is clear. Lateral mid-bench commits are how careful players still get spotted.

Cafeteria

Wide space, uneven safety. Edge quiet beats center tables. Cross seating traffic only after it settles.

Security Room

Do not improvise a capture mid-Security until Route A / B is chosen. Read Security Room and Security Routes first.

Crew behavior context: Crew. Map names: Key Rooms, Atlas Overview.

Step-by-step capture loop

  1. Enter from a known safe door or practiced cover line (Vents and Cover).
  2. Map one patrol cycle without interacting.
  3. Identify commit tile + cover tile as a pair.
  4. Move during the blind arc; start the capture immediately on arrival.
  5. If a head turns mid-commit, cancel early if the game allows, then softlock.
  6. On success, leave on a different vector when possible.
  7. Bank nest / skill progress before hunting a second capture in the same heat.

Detection penalty and capture

After a spot, assume about one minute where capture is the wrong verb. Hide, softlock, reset camera, re-read the patrol, then commit. Nesting or capturing during penalty is a common self-inflicted Demo reset — same rule as Stealth and Detection.

Abort discipline drills

Practice in Kitchen:

  1. Start a capture commit.
  2. Cancel on a deliberate turn.
  3. Softlock and wait.
  4. Finish on the next quiet cycle.

That pattern transfers to Clinic and Security better than watching a full clear video once. The embedded video on this page is contextual flavor for the larva fantasy — your muscle memory still comes from drills.

Session plan (capture day)

Warm-up: one Kitchen softlock drill and one nest bank.
Drill: two intentional capture aborts.
Attempt: one real capture with cover pre-assigned.
Stretch: Clinic approach only if nest is healthy.
Stop rule: two detection spirals → review Guides Hub, not tilt grinding into Security.

Demo scope and support

Capture guidance targets the Steam Demo vertical slice. Wishlist the TBA full game if the loop clicked. Official install framing: Demo Access. Store facts: Steam Status. No piracy mirrors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common Alien Invasyndrome questions.

When should I attempt a capture in the Demo?

Only when line of sight is clear, cover is one short dash away, nest progress is banking, and you are not inside the ~1 minute detection penalty.

Is capture the same as nesting?

No. Nesting banks colony progress; capture is a higher-attention commit that still obeys stealth rules. Read both How to Nest and this page.

Which room is best for learning capture timing?

Kitchen. Short loops teach abort discipline before Clinic or Security commits.

Can I capture during the detection hide window?

You should not. Hide for about a minute, reset patrol reads, then commit. See Stealth and Detection.

What if I softlock under a desk mid-capture?

Treat it as recovery: wait out detection first, then use Softlock Fixes if the UI is truly stuck.
